Nokia N9 News: N9 confirmed for Launch in Australia to Vodafone

Some interesting things that will occur at Nokia’s presentation, through Vodafone:

- Cocky attitude when discussing the Nokia N9. Do they think this is going to be their saviour?
- Stating why would they bother with and waste time “publishing banking apps when it can be done in the browser”. Does this mean app development isn’t a concern for Nokia? Or is this based on them releasing the N950 dev kits? Either way it doesn’t matter seeing as the N9 can adopt Android Apps based on Myriad’s Alien Dalvik.
- When asked about Sea Ray Nokia did not confirm (nor deny) that it would run on WP7.5 Mango. Could it be a Nokia variant of the OS?
- Reason for N8 faults – Since the device is manufactured in an extremely cold climate, when it is shipped around the world (countries with hotter climates) the parts expand and breakage, as well as disconnection, of hardware occurs.
- No mention that they are limiting the number of handsets produced. Nokia really thinks this has game changing potential it seems.

Knowing that the Nokia N9 is indeed confirmed for September and the rumour that the iPhone 5/iPhone 4 S is to be released in the “last weeks” of September, based off rumours of an “event-blackout” seen only for the launch of the previous iPhones, will we see the Nokia N9 and iPhone 5 go head-to-head?

Nokia N9 News: N9 confirmed for Kazakhstan

In July, a retailer in Kazakstan called Technodom said Nokia N9 was coming to them. We weren’t too sure of the reliability of this site, but Alexa did rank it 128 in Kazakhstan: http://technodom.kz/actions/discount/69669/ .

Now this billboard appears again, in Kazakstan showing, guess what?Technodom (or Texhodom as the actual banner and name appears). That seems pretty legit now.

Also thanks to Engadget, if you did read the post early this morning (GMT) you would have learnt that Nokia was Swedish.  It’s now finally corrected. Now let’s look at our list of Nokia N9 availability by country that we’ve been compiling thanks to your help. No change so far at least as Kazakstan was already there.

I’d just like to also remember again that Nokia N9 FCC ID label, which has so far on it’s own predicted: Kazakstan, Philippines, Turkey, Brazil, South Africa, and Argentina. Countries that did not have N9 availability originally listed, but now have either had local Nokia N9 pages, events or confirmed retailer availability. There’s still more countries on that label  .

Nokia N9 News: Coming to UK plus Play 360 Speakers on preorder

I was checking out the mobilefun blog (as I was looking for other accessories to check out) and noticed a couple of days ago a post confirming that the Nokia N9 is coming and they’ll be selling it. Good news UK fans of the Nokia N9. This was not just a placeholder or something to attract attention (remember it was priced at 519.95 GBP), it appears the N9 will have a few outlets here in UK.

The mobilefun folks are most importantly a very reliable online retailer. We’ve started reviewing more Nokia related accessories thanks to mobilefun recently (e.g. Otterbox, N8 charger-case).

Oh they’ve also got the Play 360 NFC Bluetooth speakers that was also announced along with the Nokia N9. Those things are pretty cool, just tap the N9 (or other NFC enabled phone, e.g. C7) and music/sound will play through these speakers (radiating outwards, 360 degrees and not directional). You can even connect two of these and have stereo sound. Sound quality is yet unknown, and since this has not yet had any reviews, there’s nothing to give an indication either.

So everybody is excited for the new Nokia N9 reaching the stores near them.

Nokia N9 available through pre-order in Russia?

Although we expected that Nokia N9, the first MeeGo based phone to be available in the last quarter of this year, behold, the terminal makes its appearance in Russia in the pre-order section of an official site.

A colleague of mine had the opportunity to test this phone a few hours after his official announcement and it seems that Nokia has done a good job in the case of the N9. Whether browsing or gesture control, or the smooth interface, with 1 GHz processor, the terminal has all the advantages of a future hit.

Now our eastern neighbors have this phone available in preorder, we are wondering, when is this model going to arrive in the rest of Europe and U.S. The last time the handset came to the attention of the press, it was rumored that we will see a launch in September, the price of 660 dollars for the 16GB version of the phone. But, nevertheless Nokia N9 is eagerly waited by thousands of Nokia fans and not only. Nokia says that this smartphone will start a new era in the mobile industry thanks to the new and innovative operating system, MeeGo.

Nokia N9 is part of the new generation platform systems from Nokia, and the expectations are high.

Nokia N9 News: The Swipe concept

Nokia N9, a terminal designed for users who appreciate a combination of impressive design and the latest smartphonetechnology. Nokia N9 brings a new innovative design, the navigation button is replaced with a simple gesture: a swipe.

Nokia N9 brings a new method of interaction between the user and terminal. In English we call it a “swipe” gesture, a intuitive movement from left to right or right to left on the terminal interface, much like moving from one page to another in a book.

This form of interaction with the terminal brings some new things.First, eliminates the need for any hardware or software button on the terminal surface. The second element is that we chose to build the terminal to have three different screens, which were chosen based on the study of what are smartphone users commonly doing. Based on this information we chose to have the terminal screen with applications, a screen with notifications and a third screen that allows several tasks simultaneously.

The third aspect is related to the special design of the Nokia N9.

Nokia N9 News: N9 will be the only smartphone withe MeeGo OS

That’s right,  Stephen Elop said that Nokia N9 will be only smartphone operating on MeeGo OS. A great amount of reactions comprised the tech blogs world wide after the declaration of Nokia CEO Stephen Elop. It was not too much since the presentation of the  first phone with OS MeeGo from the  Finnish company.

Nokia N9 brings powerful hardware, the browser moves decent, the swipe effect is interesting, and it has a very nice design. However, a question remains. Why do you present a phone if you know that the MeegGo support is limited?I suspect that this OS was for a long time in a concept stage and wanted to show the level that Nokia has reached. By the Finnish newspaper, Elop motivated hi’s decision saying that Nokia and Windows Mobile 7 records much more feedbacks than Linux’s  MeeGo OS.

It is sad, because Nokia N9 has raised a sum of positive reactions to the presentation of a few days ago. After this declaration of officials at Nokia, I don’t know how many people will  rely on the nonconformist Nokia N9.

Announced this month, even during an event that took place in Romania, Nokia N9 impressed through its design and hardware performance, but disappointing in the lack of a solid support of applications - the system is  running on MeeGo that is barely out of infancy . Here, however, the Finns  have found a solution to this problem: Dalvik emulator, thanks to which, the Nokia N9 can also run Android applications.

Thus, an impressive number of programs can run on the new Nokia N9 device (theoretically over 200,000). The date on which Nokia N9 will benefit from this update is uncertain, but according to the developers of the Dalvik  (Myriad) emulator, it will be possible  this year. Dalvik emulator was adopted is adopted by Nokia to make the N9 model more attractive.

In the end Nokia N9 will have the support of the Android Market and the result can’t be no other then success.
